"Schneewittchensarg" in great condition!
Due to the frameless rear window, this Volvo has the well-known nickname "Snow White's Coffin" and if you like, the Volvo P1800 ES is also one of the first Shooting Brake models of its kind. This green ES came to Germany from the USA in 1990 and was then owned by Mr. P. He had the Volvo dismantled and restored in 1991. The body was completely disassembled in the course of the restoration work. The entire body was reworked and rebuilt. Small defects were repaired and the recesses for the US side indicators were closed. In addition, there was a cavity sealing and an underbody protection. The vehicle was repainted and all technical components were overhauled and/or renewed. The interior was also renewed and there was a new windscreen. The restoration is well documented by means of a CD from that time, as well as invoices, records and documents.
It became apparent that there was a gap in the market for this idiosyncratic coupé. The equipment of golfers did not fit into the small luggage compartments of conventional coupés. Only the long loading area of the 1800 ES made it possible to drive a sporty coupé and take the golf equipment with you. Despite the high price, the vehicle, also known as the "Snow White's Coffin", was a sales success in the USA, while demand in Europe remained limited.
