It is always incredible what you can find nowadays, still in almost untouched vehicles, if you leave the beaten track once. When a customer told me that his father owns a VW Santana with only 17,000 km on the clock, I didn't believe it at first. In the meantime, the vehicle has arrived at our company and it is really unbelievable.

The car was delivered at the time to an elderly gentleman from Ponte Vedra in the northwest of Spain in the region of Galicia. Unlike the many other Santana models that have reeled off millions of miles, this one was very rarely moved and then stored dry in a shed. When the old gentleman passed away, the heirs brought the car back to life and thoroughly cleaned it from dust. The car is in mint condition inside and out. The Santana drives like it did on day one and you immediately recognize the virtues that made VW great back in the day. No gimmicks, but an extremely solid car that can be driven for many decades to come.

The Santana LX was, so to speak, the first special model from VW, when the term, as such, did not yet exist. It was equipped with the new 1.8 l engine with 90 hp. The engine has a long-stroke characteristic and significantly more torque already in the lower speed range. With the 4+ E transmission, which not only ensured protection for nerves and ears by lowering the engine speed at higher speeds on the country road or highway, but even in the city, the 90 hp engine became the ideal partner.
