Very beautiful and restored condition!
This VW Karmann Ghia left the Osnabrück factory on November 15, 1968. The 1968 model year still has the small ("Schiffchen") taillights and the round indicators at the front. This convertible is one of the last with central roof closure and PVC rear window. From 25.11.1968 the roof construction was changed and the central roof crank was replaced by two tensioning levers left and right like on the Beetle Cabrio.
From Osnabrück, the Karmann Ghia made its way to America. There it was delivered to the first owner in New York. Later, the car went to Virginia, where Mr. S. finally bought the car and brought it back to Germany in 2017.
The car was in an unmodified original condition. Mr. S. had the car rebuilt from the ground up with the original color combination and original features. In the course of this he installed a completely overhauled 1.6 l engine with 50 hp in the vehicle. All wear parts like brakes, steering, axle parts, clutch etc. were also renewed. The soft top mechanics are original, only the cover, the interior headliner, the wooden bows and the upholstery are new.
The rear seats are still original, the front seats have been reupholstered. The car was finally repainted in the original color chrome blue. A certificate for this vehicle from the Automuseum Wolfsburg is available.
The Karmann Ghia still impresses with its charisma and elegance. This particular car however is also suitable for longer journeys and is looking forward to its new owner.
