Elegant sportsman in fantastic technical condition!
Is 40 hp enough for a sports car? Rather no. This was also recognized by those responsible at the French car manufacturer Simca some 55 years ago, and in one fell swoop they doubled the output of the Bertone-lined coupé based on the Simca 1000. There was now no shortage of power. The 1200 S sports coupe introduced in 1967 was equipped with the largest engine Simca had built to date. In this variant with 1204 cc and twin carburetors (80-, later 85 hp) and a fully synchronized four-speed transmission, the sports car genes had now arrived in the very compact vehicle. This Simca is one of the last series and has 85 hp. The car came from Milan, went to Pavia and finally it was moved to near Ravenna where it received an "ASI" badge. In 2009 the engine was completely overhauled by the last owner. The car is completely original inside as well as outside and in a very well maintained condition.
Classic elegance and sportiness are combined here in a very compact vehicle. Due to the complete engine overhaul, the driving performance remains unchanged. Weighing less than a ton, the 85 horsepower is quite enough to get around sportily in this vehicle.
