Engine and chassis overhauled! Only 606 vehicles!
Who can claim to have given their name to a type of car? Porsche! The Targa! The “safety convertible” used to be a revolution, today it is one of the most classic ways to drive a 911. The fact that a Porsche 911 SC Targa makes you happy is down to its karma. The Targa almost didn't exist, because a convertible was actually planned. I will be happy to explain why this Targa model in particular is a rare vehicle. Before the 911 G model range had the abbreviation SC in its name in 1978, the Coupes and Targa models were simply called “Carrera 3.0” from 1975 to 1977. During this time, only 3687 models with the “Carrera 3.0” designation were built. A very tiny number compared to the 58,000 SC models built. Or the late 76,500 Carrera 3.2 models. Ultimately, of the 3687 3.0 vehicles built, only 606 left-hand drive Targa models were ordered. And one of them is now for sale.
This Targa model was delivered to the Porsche Center Niederrhein and restored over the years. In recent years, some major work has been carried out on the vehicle. Various small parts have been replaced, an extensive service has been carried out, various seals and electrical connections have been renewed and much more. We have a list of this work. A certificate of authenticity requested in August 2024 proves that the Carrera 3.0 was ordered with the color “Diamond Sahara - 436”. It was repainted in the original color during the restoration.
However, if you don't attach too much importance to the small differences in the names and technology of all these models, but simply want to drive, this is still the right vehicle for you. A unique sound experience and the best way to drive open-top.
