Original Mini convertible with only 20,000 km in the first paint!
In 1992, the Mini convertible was presented at the British Motor Show in Birmingham as the smallest four-seater convertible in the world, 33 years after its premiere. It was built by Karmann in Osnabrück, a company with a long tradition in building convertibles. The perfect partner to give the classic Mini an even sunnier disposition.
Luxury of the late-born. The late Minis were certainly the best. There was never more technology, more equipment, more luxury. As a convertible, the Mini rolled on stout 12-inch aluminum wheels and low-profile tires under painted fender flares and sill trim, and at the front a spoiler with integrated auxiliary headlights directed the wind. All this was powered by a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine with single-point injection and 63 hp, enough even for tough mountain passes and other curvy roads. The soft top rested classically on the rear edge, and a tarpaulin protected it from dust. It looked good and was very easy to drive. The Mini Convertible was available in two color combinations: "Nightfire" red with a red top or "Caribbean" blue with a gray top - in 1995 Caribbean Blue was replaced by "British Racing" green (also with a gray top). The interior was always the same, the fabric color "granite gray".
At DM 28,900, the open Mini was no bargain in 1993, but it was about on par with other small convertibles of the time. This sunny pleasure was only available for three years, and in 1996 it was discontinued after 1,081 units. So it remains to this day an exceedingly rare and exclusive pleasure to drive open-top in a Mini, a kind of summer dream. Maybe it was just too good to be true?
This unique vehicle was produced in 1994 and given to a family man for his 50th birthday on April 14. The car goes until 2016 in the family of the first owner. Unfortunately, due to an illness, the car had to be sold and came into the hands of a collector. Mr. L. Actually wanted to use the car regularly on nice weekends, however, due to his profession, he unfortunately does not get to. The car has only run an incredible 20,350 km and is in fantastic condition.
A unique car for the passionate Mini enthusiast.
