This R107 convertible is in an extraordinarily well-kept condition and drves phenomenally. Aside from all the great technical aspects, the fancy color combination creates a distinctive presence and makes even us vintage dealers marvel at this specimen again and again. The R107 model was the first SL with eight cylinders under the hood and even to this day remains one of the most robust vehicles made by Mercedes-Benz! The marvelous sound in lower rpm ranges, as well as the elegant gliding with open hood makes many heads turn on the road, and one is always looking for excuses to take the convertible for another spin. This specimen was ordered at Daimler in Germany and was registered as a show vehicle to the Tacoma Mercedes Benz office south of Seattle. This exemplar was used to acquire new customers, and the car dealers could show off what was possible in regards to technology thanks to German engineer ingenuity. In 2016, the vehicle returned to Germany and in June 2016 was registered to its first German owner in Northern Germany. At this time, the typical American characteristics such as both US-bumpers and the lamps were exchanged for their German equivalents, in order to restore the familiar appearance of this classic for our eyes. Also in 2016, the convertible was completely repainted, and certain wear and tear components were replaced, such as: the brakes, timing chain including the stretcher, injectors, ignition cable, distributor cap and finger, fuel distributor, fuel pump and the filter.
The appearance of our exemplar is without a doubt impressive, and aside from elegance and quality, the chassis also communicates safety. This is not the only model in which Mercedes-Benz was far ahead of its time in regards to crumple zones. The safety concept of the R107 in case of a rollover is based solely on a highly solid/strengthened a-columns as well as a glued-in windscreen, in order to maximize the entirety of safety potential. Such a strong construction was not seen before in the automobile industry. The interior including steering wheel is made to conform with the S-class of the 126 model range, and the technical aspects were upgraded to the same level.
The vehicle can be visited at any time after prior appointment with us, so that we can ensure that the car is in the appropriate location.
