Incredible time capsule with only 32,600 km in original condition!

Description

As many know, I have a soft spot for unconventional cars. So it is all the more exciting for me when I find such a vehicle in an almost perfect condition. This fantastic Lancia Gamma Coupé with only 32,600 km, which I found in Italy, is one of them!

The stylistically unique Gamma Coupé, is considered one of the most beautiful cars of the 1970s. Again a Pininfarina creation, it was the work of Aldo Brovarone and considered his best work. As the company's top-of-the-line model, the Gamma Coupé was in the tradition of the Fiat 130 Coupé, production of which ceased towards the end of 1977. The coupe's general layout also bore similarities to the Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2.

Brovarone designed a classic notchback body that strictly followed the trapezoidal line Pininfarina had established two decades earlier with the Lancia Flaminia Coupé, among others. A special feature was a wide lateral bead on the car's flanks, into which a dark accent strip of plastic was set. Some details were more playful and thus different from its indirect predecessor, the Fiat 130 coupe. These included a multiple-angled top edge of the trunk lid and a small step where the C-pillar merged with the roof of the car. The latter feature was also found on the Maserati Kyalami, which was introduced at the same time and had been designed by Pietro Frua.

The front seat backrests were a special interior feature: they could only be folded forward - supposedly for safety reasons - when the driver's or passenger door was fully open.

This particular example was delivered to the first owner in 1978. He kept the car until 1995 and then traded it in at the Volkswagen dealer for a new VW Polo. After that, the car was put into dry storage until the beginning of this year. The car was carefully brought back to life and all wear parts were replaced. What is especially fantastic is that the interior is completely original and has survived the time without any damage. Especially the first series still has the extravagant seats of the seventies.

Conclusion

The car drives like a dream and everything works like on the first day. A wonderful time capsule and style icon that the Lancia lover should definitely not miss!
