This Fiat 125 S Special was first purchased on May 29th, 1969 by Mr Giovanni Molteni, born in March of 1929. He bought it from the official Fiat dealer Colombo, in the Italian city of Mandello del Lario (situated right by Lake Como) The Fiat office stood not far from the assembly plant of the motorcycle manufacturer Moto Guzzi, and this region was well-known for having the most exciting vehicles and their drivers race up and down its roads. Mr Molteni himself was a 40-year old employee of the town at the time and also lived with his family right by the Lake Como. In 1989, Mr Molteni unexpectedly passed away; out of grief, the family decided against selling the vehicle, and after de-registering it in December 1989, they parked it in their own garage. Only in 2011, Mr Giuseppe Valenti, born in October of 1955, discovered the Fiat by sheer coincidence in a half-open garage and immediately contacted the daughter of the deceased owner. On November 15th, 2011 he was finally able to purchase the vehicle and kept it until mid-2019. In the past 50 years the Fiat 125 Special spent its time exclusively around the Lake Como and Lecco regions, and the sticker applied to the rear window, so typical for new Italian cars, is still visible on the vehicle to this day.
The Fiat 125 Special is one of the most high-class vehicles from that particular time, with a well-endowed interior and an unmistakably sporty character. Simply a great car for everyday use in a classic colour combination and offering a fair amount of space. They were bought, used and thrown away. Over the years, these great specimens fell into oblivion, and nowadays they’re back to turning heads as people stand in awe of the luxurious appearance of this limousine. Which is saying something considering that in the 60s contemporary automobile magazines kept comparing the Fiat to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. In this race, the Fiat always came out ahead and also sported a number of great features. Those were grand times when sports limousines like this shaped the streets of Italy. Powerful in performance and always ready for action. The “TWIN CAM” engine of the Fiat 125 Special featured the most up-to-date engine construction of its time, which also led to the lowest maintenance. Fiat constructor Lampredi created a low-cost and series-capable camshaft output engine, which runs smoothly and reliable at high revolution speeds. Over time, Mr Valenti had a couple of varnish damages removed, which means the 125 Special is not free of varnish modifications.
