Description

This Fiat 124 is the most untouched car we can call our own. We are still speechless, how dewy this 53 year old sedan is, because the condition surpasses even in-house models from the Fiat Museum. The vehicle comes from a young lady from Rome, who was born in 1944 and died only 4 years after the new acquisition. The car stood for 41 years in a dry garage of the family and survived the long standing time until it was sold to Italy's most famous Fiat collector (Giammario Matarazzi) in November 2011. This collector, himself born in 1948, gave the vehicle, which in 2011 had a mileage of only 1,473 km, an engine service and applied for classic car registration for Italy. In 2016, it went in exchange for another vehicle to the third owner, who took over the Fiat with a mileage of about 3,400km.

The Fiat 124 A model won the best car of the year award at the 1967 Amsterdam Motor Show because, in addition to very good workmanship all around, it got disc brakes, a chassis reinforcement, rear-wheel drive and an all-new and very economical 1.2-liter engine as standard. These improvements were very innovative in the late sixties and Fiat was a serious car builder at the time. Fiat's paint process alone has always had a reputation for being very advanced and applied for eternity. First the phosphate treatment on the bare body, then the galvanic bath rust treatment, then five coats of paint applied electrostatically, plus sealers on weld points before finally going into the oven.
