Description

This gorgeous Fiat platform truck was registered in 1955 by a farmer in the region around Modena (Italy) and put to use on the family farm. After his death in the 70s, the vehicle remained standing right inside the barn, surrounded by chickens, cows and a couple pigs, all the way up until 1992. By sheer coincidence, Mr Manente Giorgio, born in 1947, learned about the vehicle and bought it from the family, although there were no official documents to be found. Mr Manente Giorgio and his son are collectors and restorers of Italian military vehicles and well-known in their home country of Italy. Over a long period of time, lasting from 1992 to 2012, Mr Giorgio restored this platform truck. Every time he and his son sought diversion from the main business, they dedicated their time to this rare specimen. In 2012, with the help of the official REGISTRO FIAT ITALIANO, the year of the vehicle's release to its first owner, as well as the serial numbers, could finally be identified. Afterwards, Mr Manente Giorgio could register the Fiat Industriale to himself and receive new car documents.

Model history

This platform truck model was produced over only two years at Fiat, which definitely makes it a rare time capsule of the 50's era. Closed transporter models were also built; however, because of the limited vehicle height, they didn't offer much space. A platform truck like this one was only constructed at FIat on special request and presented the best option for simple farmers wanting to sell their wares openly on the loading platform.
