Description

This nearly untouched BMW 525 limousine sports a mileage of only 42,000 kilometres and stands ready for viewing in its original varnish. We discovered this incredible specimen in Tyrol/Austria and could hardly believe its pristine condition. The 525 was produced in the spring of 1976 and was newly purchased and registered at BMW on May 1st, 1977 as a showroom vehicle by a degreed engineer. From 1979 onwards, the vehicle was driven only sporadically by his wife, who eventually left it to stand unused. The vehicle’s condition is phenomenal, and the fact that the initially installed summer tyres still remain as well as the set of winter tyres dating from the 70’s, featuring spikes, makes it even more interesting. The interior appears in mint condition, thanks to the protective covers that had been put over the seats all those many years.

Every component of this vehicle spells “authenticity”. The low mileage, the wonderful interior and a dependable six cylinder engine running smooth as silk makes it stand unequalled among its peers. The characteristic two-and-a-half litre driving gears, which were not only powerful but also refined, still rank among the best in their cubic capacity range and are considered indestructible. The E12 was the first BMW that featured its series number (in this case five) printed on the front, and the halogen double headlights remain an unmistakable trademark in every rear view mirror. It will be difficult to find such a pristine model a second time. As a last note of interest: According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority of Germany, as of 2015 only 171 units of this model were registered, and in 2016 it was down to 122. The rarity of this model paired with its perfect condition make this 525 stand out distinctly on the European market.
